The Short Version

The app: Proofed does not collect, store, or transmit your writing. Your text never leaves your device. Grammar checking happens entirely on-device using Apple's Foundation Models.

The website: If you sign up for the Proofed waitlist, we collect your email address to notify you when the app launches. That's the only personal data we collect.

1. What Data We Collect

In the app

Proofed does not collect your text, documents, or any writing you enter. No personal identifiers, no location, no device fingerprinting.

The following data is collected in-app:

• Anonymous usage signals — via TelemetryDeck (see Section 2). Events like “app opened” or “grammar check completed.” No text content, no PII.
• Crash reports — via Sentry (see Section 2). If the app crashes, a report is sent automatically, stripped of any personal data before transmission.

On our website (waitlist)

If you submit your email address on the Proofed waitlist form at proofed.pragmatiq.io, we collect:

• Your email address — stored securely in Cloudflare KV storage, used only to notify you when Proofed launches. We will not use it for unrelated marketing.

You are not required to join the waitlist to download or use the app.

Data we do NOT collect

• Your text, documents, or any writing you enter into Proofed
• Your name or any personal identifiers (in the app)
• Your device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV)
• Your location
• Usage patterns linked to your identity

2. Third-Party Services

TelemetryDeck (Anonymous Analytics)

Proofed uses TelemetryDeck for privacy-preserving usage analytics. TelemetryDeck is designed to provide aggregate insights without collecting personally identifiable information.

What TelemetryDeck collects:

• Anonymous event signals (e.g. “app launched”, “grammar check completed”, “paywall viewed”)
• Approximate app version and iOS version
• A double-hashed device identifier (not reversible to identify you)

TelemetryDeck does not collect your name, email, writing content, or any PII. Data is stored on EU servers. Their privacy policy: telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

Sentry (Crash Reporting)

Proofed uses Sentry for crash and error reporting, configured with privacy-hardening settings:

• sendDefaultPii = false — no personally identifiable information is transmitted
• No session tracking, no network request tracking, no UI action tracking
• User identity is explicitly scrubbed before any report is sent
• Data is processed via Sentry's EU endpoint (de.sentry.io)

Sentry crash reports may include device type, iOS version, app version, and a stack trace. They do not include your writing or any personal data. Their privacy policy: sentry.io/privacy.

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

Proofed uses RevenueCat to manage paid subscriptions (Proofed Pro). RevenueCat processes:

• A randomly generated anonymous identifier (not linked to your identity)
• Purchase transaction data (processed by Apple's App Store, not stored by us)
• Subscription status (active, expired, trial)

RevenueCat does not have access to your name, email, or any writing you enter into Proofed. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

Cloudflare (Waitlist & Website Hosting)

The Proofed website and waitlist API are hosted on Cloudflare. If you join the waitlist, your email address is stored in Cloudflare KV storage. Cloudflare's privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Apple App Store

When you download Proofed or make a purchase, Apple's standard App Store privacy practices apply. Pragmatiq does not receive your payment details. Apple's privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.

3. On-Device Storage

Proofed stores the following data locally on your device only:

• App preferences — your chosen theme and in-app settings
• Subscription status — cached locally so the app works offline
• Daily usage counter — tracks free checks used today (resets at midnight, never transmitted)

This data is stored using Apple's standard UserDefaults system, remains exclusively on your device, and is never backed up to iCloud.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising, marketing, or any commercial purpose. Data is only shared with the processors described in Section 2, solely for the purposes described.

5. Data Retention

• Waitlist emails — retained until you request deletion or until 90 days after the app launches, whichever comes first.
• TelemetryDeck signals — aggregated and anonymised per TelemetryDeck's standard policy.
• Sentry crash reports — retained for 90 days.
• In-app local data — stored on your device and deleted when you uninstall Proofed.

6. Children's Privacy

Proofed does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The waitlist is intended for adults. If you believe a child has submitted their email to our waitlist, contact privacy@pragmatiq.io and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Waitlist data: You may request deletion of your email address at any time by emailing privacy@pragmatiq.io. We will remove it within 7 days.

EU/EEA Users (GDPR):

• Waitlist email: consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR)
• RevenueCat subscription data: contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR)
• TelemetryDeck/Sentry: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — improving app stability and understanding aggregate usage, with no PII collected

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold. Contact privacy@pragmatiq.io.

California Users (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

8. Security

Waitlist emails are stored in Cloudflare KV with standard Cloudflare security controls. In-app data is processed on-device, protected by Apple's hardware and software security. Crash reports are transmitted over HTTPS to Sentry's EU endpoint.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we change this privacy policy in a material way, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, notify waitlist subscribers by email.
